_133834.jpgPower engineers of the Udmurt branch of Rosseti Centre and Volga Region have started the technical re-equipment of the 35/6 kV “Airport” substation in Zavyalovsky district of the republic. The substation has been identified as a pilot for the implementation of “digital substation” technologies within the framework of the implementation of the “Digital Transformation 2030” concept of PJSC Rosseti.

The “Airport” substation is a key power supply centre for the air transport hub of Udmurtia - the airport and the intensively developing Zavyalovsky district of the republic. As a result of installing modern equipment and control systems at the substation, 100% observability will be ensured, metering will be automated and electricity losses will be reduced, and the reliability of power supply to consumers will increase. It is about creating a fully-fledged universal digital platform that will serve as a model for the further modernization of the energy system of the entire region.

“Udmurtia has a serious economic potential,” stressed General Director of Rosseti Centre - the managing organization of Rosseti Centre and Volga Region Igor Makovskiy. “In turn, the digital transformation of the power grid complex will create conditions for its early development and implementation. The introduction of the "digits" is a significant increase in the reliability of power supply to existing industries, providing the necessary capacity for new promising projects and, as a result, the growth of the republic’s investment attractiveness, improving the quality of life of its citizens.

Currently, the power engineers have started dismantling old equipment and freeing up sites for installing new transformers. In accordance with the measures of the investment program, two power transformers will be replaced at the “Airport” substation, as a result, the total capacity of the substation will increase from 8 to 12.6 MVA. Also, the power engineers will install centralized protection systems for 35 and 6 kV sections, which were developed as part of their own R&D projects. This solution will not only reduce the capital costs of the current reconstruction of the substation, but also create an opportunity to further expand the connections without replacing the head unit of the relay protection and automation section.

The amount of investment in the digital substation will be 77.8 million rubles. Putting the facility into operation is planned for October 2020.
