Additional measures of fire safety are taken at
the sites in all the branches of JSC «IDGC of Centre and Volga
region» due to abnormal hot weather and high fire risk.
High ambient air temperatures in the territory of Central Russia
and Volga region caused aggravation of the
fire situation. Forest is burning in the republic
of Mari El, the emergency situation
mode is kept both in two districts – Lyskovsky and Vorotynsky – due to fires in
Nizhny Novgorod region. Fires not only spoil much
the ecological system in the regions, but damage the grid complex normal
operation. Wooden towers of low voltage power transmission lines may suffer
first from such the seasonal disaster.
All the branches of JSC «IDGC of Centre and Volga region» operate under enhanced fire-prevention mode
due to the observed challenging situation. The power engineering specialists
cooperate much with the bodies of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, thus,
getting prompt information regarding fire situation in forests, and carry out
regular review of fire hazard areas of power transmission lines. The whole fire-fighting
water line system: water hydrants, reservoirs and pump houses – is prepared for
extinguishing of possible fires. Field teams examine regularly the state of access
roads to fire-fighting reservoirs, mow grass in the territory of outdoor
switchgears, and prevent waste and garbage burning nearby the sites. The power engineering
specialists dig round wooden towers and create mineralized belts along power
transmission lines beforehand in order to minimize the risk of fire growth.
According to deputy chief executive officer on
technical affairs – chief engineer of JSC «IDGC of Centre and Volga region» Sergey
Andrus, all the field teams of power engineering specialists work under special
operation mode. «Our personnel are provided with all the required means to act
under any emergency situation. First of all, these are individual protection and
communication means, as well as primary means of fire-fighting that help
localize and eliminate small fires. All the repair and field personnel of the
company underwent regular fire training even before the fire hazard period. The
sequence of actions to be taken in case of ignition and the ignition source
localization was trained practically. Now we cooperate much with the regional
services of the State board of the Ministry of Emergency situations of Russia, the
departments of fire guards and forestries in the regions where they have
introduced the emergency mode due to fires».
The power engineering specialists conduct
explanatory work with local population in all the territory of company
attendance along with the measures taken. The power engineering specialists invoke
the population to be careful with fire, to observe the rules of safe behaviour
nearby the sites and to prevent fire.
